Royal mint: making memorabilia pay in China

Prince William and Kate Middleton’s engagement is proving to be a boom for memorabilia makers.

But with wages in China rising and the renminbi’s possible appreciation, manufacturers are looking to move upmarket to boost margins.

Patti Waldmeir, the FT’s Shanghai correspondent, visits a replica ring manufacturer in Yiwu to explore the changing business environment.
