Top schools - interactive map

The FT’s interactive schools map is your guide to the best schools in England, county by county or overall. The map works is as follows: at the start, the box shows all the top 1000 schools listed by 2009 ranking. If you want to sort the list, click on a column header.

However, if you move your cursor over the map, you can view schools by county. If you then click on a county, this ”fixes” the table to show just the schools in that county. Again, click on column headers to sort the list. If you want to view a different county, click on the previous county to unlock the data, and then on the next county of your choice to view its schools, and so on.

The table shows not only the top 1,000 schools in England, but also lists other schools outside the top 1,000. In all, 2,166 schools are listed, but only the top thousand are given a ranking.
