For decades, a small number of large military contractors built the heavy equipment needed to fight conventional wars, becoming members of what President Dwight Eisenhower referred to as the “military-industrial complex”. Today, these companies are creating a cyber-industrial complex by acquiring smaller, specialist groups.
According to advisory firm ERG Partners, more than a dozen buy-outs of cyber security companies were announced this year, double the number in 2010.
