China’s left-behind children

As China’s migrant workers flock to the cities in search of work, their children often remain behind in the countryside.

Some are left with relatives, some on their own, and others in orphanage-like foster care institutions.

In this audio slideshow Financial Times Beijing Correspondent Katherine Hille explores the lives of these left-behind children and their parents.
