Founded in 1857 by a wine merchant and a solicitor, Sheffield FC is the world’s oldest football club. “Every football club in the world, theoretically, is derived from this one,” says Richard Tims, the club’s chairman, who is looking to turn the club into a potentially global brand.

“We stand for community, integrity, respect, honesty and playing for the love of the game, in other words,” adds Mr. Timms, “the refreshingly good end of football.” In addition to its loyal fans at home, who cherish the sense of belonging, the club has attracted hundreds of members worldwide, from the Falkland Islands to Finland and Australia.
